Melancholic depression is a form of major depressive disorder (MDD) which presents with melancholic features. Although melancholic depression used to be seen as a distinct disorder, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) no longer recognizes it as a separate mental illness. Instead, melancholia is now seen as a specified for MDD — that is, a subtype of major depressive disorder.
MDD is a significant mental health condition characterized by persistent and intense feelings of sadness and hopelessness. The disorder can affect many areas of life, including work, school, and relationships. It may also impact mood and behavior as well as various physical functions, such as appetite and sleep. People with MDD often lose interest in activities they once enjoyed and have trouble getting through the day. Occasionally, they may also feel as if life isn’t worth living.

Baker’s cysts are not technically true cysts; they represent distention of the gastroc.-semimembr Bursa through accumulation of fluid, which communicates with the knee joint. Baker’s cysts are usually most prevalent in patients with preexisting intra-articular knee joint pathology such as arthritis (degenerative or inflammatory) or internal derangement (meniscal or anterior cruciate ligament tears, loose bodies, etc). Although Baker’s cysts are most frequently asymptomatic, they may cause posterior knee pain, joint stiffness, and reduced range of motion.

On the bands of the river, I am cloaked in a thicket of willow. Its protective branches reach out over the water, providing shade and shelter to birds, mammals and fish. Deer have grazed on the delicate spring growth. The sound of bees and other insects feasting on willow pollen and nectar hums over the trickling sound of water. I remember that not long ago these banks were ravaged by flood, and marvel that willow has transformed muddy chaos into vigorous growth and order.
Name: Salix species. Salix is derived from the Celtic “sal” for near, and “lis” for water. It could also be derived from the Latin “salio” meaning spring out, in reference to rapid growth.

Elements originated in Brazil by the contact of the three different traditions;
Contemporary elements that are re-elaborations of old traditions.
