Signs thats Your Boss Is a Weak Manager by Liz Ryan ,and my intake about them
1. They listen to their team members;
My take on this; Here in Calgary every Supervisor I worked for never listen, they pretend they do but in the end the listen only to the owners, directors and how much money they make if the go quantity over quality.
2. They coach employees rather than threatening them with a poor performance review or dismissal; My take in this is 100% true here in Alberta it is never about teaching and rehabilitation but abut personnel vendetta, power, envy and jealousy, back stabbing and nose browning you be lucky if you find one or two supervisor who really care.
3. They trust their employees to do their jobs without close supervision; my intake is 50/ 50 here in Alberta, and when they trust you to do your job because they over whelmed you with booking and quantity work that you have no time to talk to them. They are open to and grateful for new ideas.
4. They encourage their teammates and listen to new ideas; My intake here in Calgary ; they are never grateful , they steal your ideas, and altered your ideas and make it their own then they go a cut the time and push quantity over quality
5. They bring important issues to senior leadership to be dealt with. They are not afraid to broach sticky or politically-sensitive topics — or maybe they are afraid, but they do it anyway. My intake here in Canada in my work 95% of those managers and supervisors never ever do that, they afraid to rock the boat and if they do, they do it to complain against staff or removal of staff and never to back up the staff or the work quality it is all about the money and quantity and they mention quality in from of media and advertisement.
6. They thank and acknowledge their team members. My intake is when the team member makes more money and brings more money they do but if the talk about quantity versus quality they will get the deaf ear.
7. They inspire people to do great things. My intake is yet to see one who inspires me here in Alberta. I worked only with few in Saskatoon Like dean McMillan , Gary Kocher, and few others like Denise graton , Dr ted Lions, in Manitoba, Ms Merle McKay In novoscotia only handful of people but no one from the new generation of supervisors and managers.
8. They hire people who are skilled in areas they’re not skilled in. My intake in this here in Alberta 90% is opposite they hire people who take low salary and asked us to teach them, many managers hire people who are not even registered or qualified in Canada and hire them from the back door as many work here without union at the clinic setting. Some clinic take people from UK who never passed sonography Canada or the ARDMS and in few weeks they walk on the job because the unfair treatment! Or get hires because the province pay the management money for training students who are not graduated in Canada or go to few weeks work shop and bridging program trying to get them in from the back door to work and pay tax.
THE BEST LEADER IS A COMMANDER OF HOPE AND KINDNESS
9. They lead through trust, rather than fear. Again here in Alberta 95% is the opposite.
10. So my intake of this to all of you sonographers and radiographers and other diagnostic technologists don’t even try to consider to coma to Alberta to advance your Carrier , only if you are good nose browner work like a horse and always the yes sir man/ woman, have no great ambition and don’t care of any solution then Alberta is for you.
Thank you for reading , Stand for your right , dont be afraid to make a change and rock the boat if it is for the work quality, patient care and human kindness and the good of all man kind .Those who are jealous of your achievements,qualifications,skills, experience. motivation
