Morgellons Disease
Morgellons Disease can make you feel like there is a ghost in your bed nibbling on your feet.
Morgellons is a controversial and poorly understood condition in which unusual thread-like fibers appear under the skin, some attributed to demon scratches. The patient may feel like something is crawling, biting, or stinging all over, or nibbling in the toes and feet. When the person moves to another place or bed it happens again, so they think they are having an attachment of spirit.
“As many as 98% of Morgellons patients have evidence of Lyme disease and/or an associated tick-borne infection,” says Dr. Stricker. In fact, Morgellons sufferers commonly experience joint pain, fatigue, and neuropathy, all known symptoms of Lyme disease
Some medical experts say Morgellons is a physical illness. Others suggest it is a type of psychosis, and I personnel throw my research think it is a mix, multifactor causes this psychosis that is triggered by the use of drugs, alcohol, cases of depression and other problems that associated with loneliness and sadness, called “delusional parasitosis,” in which a person thinks that demon, ghost or a parasites have infected their skin. And that happened after some parasites or Lyme disease tick can invade the skin and in time the chemicals they produce can damage the skin fibers and causes the skin lesions.
Your doctor may call it an “unexplained dermopathy,” etiology undetermined, all in your head and so as most doctors are not experienced with many strange illnesses like this one.
Unexplained dermopathy, which means a skin condition that occurs without a known reason? Other medical professionals have dubbed the condition “fiber disease.”
Morgellons Disease Symptoms
Unpleasant skin sensations are the main complaint. People with Morgellons may also complain of:
- Feeling like bugs are crawling all over the skin
- Burning or stinging sensations under the skin
- Intense itching
- Skin sores, or scratches that appear suddenly and heal slowly
- Sores that leave very red (hyper pigmented) scars
Some patients report thread-like fibers stuck in the skin.
People with Morgellons sometimes complain of other symptoms, which may include:
- Hard time paying attention and concentrating
- Extreme fatigue, hair loss, joint and muscle pain, nervous system problem, tooth loss, sleeping problem, short term memory loss.
I think also this could be similar to the abstain bar syndrome, or any herbs virus or shingles that can in time cause these symptoms.
In the past, few doctors had heard of Morgellons. But in response to scattered reports, the CDC worked together with several other health care agencies to investigate this condition. Most reports came from California, Texas, and Florida, although patients have been seen in all 50 states.
The CDC study found that Morgellons is most likely to affect middle-aged white women.
Many of the patients in the CDC study showed signs of being obsessively concerned about health problems in general. This is called somatic concerns.
About half of the people in the study had other health problems, including depression, and drug uses.
Another condition that causes skin problem called formication is the feeling of insects crawling across or underneath your skin. The name comes from the Latin word “Formica,” which means ant.
Formication is known as a type of Paresthesia, it happens when you feel sensations on your skin that don’t have a physical cause. Paresthesia can take many forms. These can include burning, tingling, or numbness. With formation, you might also describe the “crawling” sensation as feeling like “pins and needles.” Formication is also called a tactile hallucination. This means that you’re feeling a sensation that has no physical cause.
Formication can be a symptom of several conditions. These conditions include fibromyalgia, and Parkinson disease. Withdrawal from alcohol or drug use can also trigger formication.
The main symptom of formication is the sensation of bugs crawling on or underneath your skin. Something nibbling in your toes ,This feeling also causes you to feel itchy. This can cause you to scratch your skin where you feel the sensation, even if there’s no actual cause of the itch.
Constant scratching or picking to satisfy an itch can lead to skin damage and open cuts. These open cuts can get infected and lead to other conditions, such as skin ulcers or open wounds.
Formication can happen at the same time as other symptoms, depending on the underlying cause. Other symptoms can include:
- aches around your entire body
- feeling exhausted
- feeling stiff
- difficulty concentrating (often called “fibro fog” in the case of fibromyalgia)
- shaking in hands or fingers, or tremors
- moving slower over time
- feeling depressed
- feeling angry or agitated
A variety of chronic conditions can cause tingling in the feet, including:
- diabetes and diabetic neuropathy
- multiple sclerosis (MS)
- hypothyroidism
- Tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS)
- kidney failure
- Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease
- autoimmune diseases
- infections
- Alcohol use disorder and alcoholic neuropathy.
- In rare cases some of those people develop poltergeist activity to manifest at home when they are angry, depressed, or afraid.
