What we do before we resign – (Human behavior)

What are your workers do before they resign and quit?

((My answer to those signs before workers leave you))

I never wait for Friday.

why should I? I give them a notice a head of time, If they require 2 weeks in advance I give them 4 weeks or 2 months. If they don’t treat me good I usually take my vacation or sick leave and then fax them my resignation.

Email sending is not important as most supervisor don’t send too many e mails and when we send it, they think we are nose browning or try to show off and they forget that with e mails, we can accomplish lots of things as we are all busy and e mails play a big part of communications that most supervisors and managers lack of. When we send lots of e mails they don’t even read it and they say we have so much e mails from so and so person, that whys many of us tend to not share our knowledge with ignorant supervisors.

Make your report base on facts, dates, numbers and send it to the CEO or someone else who is in charge and not to your supervisor or manager. This is to tell them why you resigned and where things went wrong and how to correct it by giving your idea and share your thoughts without anger, be logic and don’t treat them as your enemy.

When you move on keep the contact, because things can turn around, they might leave and ask you for help or the other way around.

Mark in your mind those individual who are very bad to the company and caused lots of problems to you and others, and ask your new company manager if such person joining the company you will certainly take leave and resigned. It’s good to tell your boss about such person personality, work ethics, and behavioral that could led to a problem for this company business and bad reputation. Keep your self in check to distant yourself from that person and also to your new work. You informed others that bad people known to have Karma at work will get what they deserved and will lose many opportunities to work at good work places.

Personal photos start to disappear gradually from the workplace. In my experienced the first thing went, the wall framed degrees, diplomas and certificates, then paper work and books, then forms and texts and some of my own furniture and desk items. I did it slowly, moved the necessities slowly every day and replaced them with calendar and some other office posters, etc.

Don’t tell anybody at work even if they are your best friends. 100% of the time they leak the information, not because they don’t like you but because they think someone else can change your mind or talk to you and let you stay.

Never leave until you done your contract so you get all your pay, make sure to take your vacation time, sick time that belongs to you way ahead of time. Many people take all their personnel leave and sick time before their vacation then they leave, if you don’t the company will not pay you any sick time.

Make sure to take all your educational leave way a head of time so you can get paid before you leave.

Management do not care. Your name and all your contributions will be forgotten. They tell you and others, that they do care and that they do focused on quality etc. It is completely rubbish and lies. .

All they care about is the bottom line, dateline, cents and dime, the sale, the numbers of cases and profit. Quantity over quality is the norm of the day and using the word QUALITY when they have meetings, media or news conference, interviews, and in the advertisements.

Personal time off is not a factor. It could be a point for some workers but most of us have at least 5 to 12 days personnel time off. We take it to do our dental, doctors appointments, lab tests, etc. So it is not a sign, only if the person trying to clear all his / her personnel time in the same week or same month, that’s could be a big sign.

Cell phones usage is not a good sign as most companies discourage the use of cell phone. Most interviews will be done after work and on the time off days after e mails communications. You will see people spending long hours on the weekends on professional links like this looking for jobs and communicate with others and finding new opportunities.

Most People who resigned, become happier. They have secured a position somewhere else, their level of stress decreases, and yet they always give notion such like a sarcastic doom day scenario – just wait and see what will happen, soon they will be sorry, they don’t know what’s going to hit them, good luck of finding someone to replace me, they asked for it, they didn’t know it’s coming, they deserved it. Though they gave such a sarcastic notion, they are also becoming happier and have lots of day dreams.

Sometimes they become so sociable. All sudden they go to parties and picnicking, or the opposite also true; they hide and become a hermits to keep their affairs and new job secret and keep their guilty face for themselves.

They never look in to the managers and supervisorseyes, they never discuss or chat with them for long time and avoid them as much as possible.

They take lots of pictures with friends and the work. It is like they never going to come back and take pictures with friends and people .

Sometimes They bring treat and food and celebrate with others .

Reference: Most of the time you see those who are going to leave, asking for reference letters, addresses and phones for references and that’s the biggest point as many are doing it by e mail and ask those who they trust only to prepare them for the references.

They try to convince few of their friends to leave the company. Most workers do that as they feel the company do not deserve it and those people deserve better place and treatment. Thats why you see when someone leave at least one or more will leave after in few months.

That’s why the smart managers and supervisors should focus on the individual worker from the start before it reaches to the point of this relationship break up .

Breaking point; every one of us have a limitation. Managers should know that the each worker have different breaking points, it rises from increasing stress level, quantity of work. Many workers feel that they do more work than others yet they get paid the same. Managers should compensate those workers according to his/her skills, speed, quality of work, knowledge, etc.

Management must recognize and reward those who bring more to the company. When a staff bring about good quality work, make an effort to work harder and smarter, not calling sick all the time, show up on time and leave on time, and finishes his/her task on time should be rewarded.

Managers must replace the supervisors every year and replace them with someone else from same company so all workers have the chance to be in charge and know that everybody will have chance as long as he / she want to be in that level.

The name of the game is TO BE FAIR. Managers should reward good efforts, apply understanding, work with them instead against them, work with them as a team without controlling them. This will be the true quality of a leadership.

Manager and supervisor ask you to do the job but leaders will work with you. In order to achieve the company goal and help you, managers should be professionals, and not running a Mickey Mouse operation. You should smile, be genuine and approachable. Managers should not hire their relatives or friends. Workers should be hired fairly and according to their degrees and experiences.

Be true to yourself and your worker .When the workers leave your place and your company, they do so not because they are lazy but because they reached their breaking points and things become unhealthy for them to continue with you.

If I am the CEO, I will replace all the supervisors every year, and when i see 3 people leave me in one year I will fire the supervisor in-charge and the manager.

The problem is that 90% of the managers / supervisors are lacking the sense of humor, common sense, leadership skills, communication skills, implementation skills, and most have no BSc or master degrees at all, and they control people instead controlling things.

Leave with grace and peace of mind; For those workers who leaves the company I advised you to move on, do not try to look back, and to learn from the past experience. When you are in new company try to make new friends and allies. Don’t bad mouth the previous company managers.

Quitting gets a lot more support in today’s mobile work world than it once did. Today’s employees are almost expected to change jobs routinely, like playing musical chairs. But that doesn’t mean managers can’t take steps to retain top talent.

Good luck to those who are leaving.

Steve Ramsey.
