This story sent to us By JO K.
Many years ago, I had a Ridgeback named Suna. At that time my husband and I lived in Orange County, California. This dog and I bonded the first day I brought her home when she was just a puppy. I had 10½ wonderful years with Suna. She was more than just a dog, she was my friend and companion.
Suna had to have back surgery when she was six years old. As she aged, her back started to bother her again. The vet came to our home, said Suna was in a lot of pain and her quality of life was not good. So we decided it was time to say goodbye. It broke my heart and I became a recluse for almost a year.
The evening after her death at 11:50 p.m., I heard her barking! Suna had a unique bark. She barked until midnight, then it got really quite. I never heard her bark again. But I did hear her nails on our tile floor often. I told my husband and he just smiled.
At the time of her death, I had a housekeeper. She would come every two weeks. When she arrived, I told her Suna was gone and she said, “Yes, I know, but I see her all the time.” I found out later that she told my husband about seeing Suna and he told her not to say anything to me. Suna could be heard walking around our home for six months. I still miss her.
